About our Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) program
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport that allows a wide variety of fighting techniques and skills. The rules of MMA allow the use of striking and kicking as well as grappling techniques, both while standing and on the ground.
Training under one roof students not only have access to BJJ and grappling classes but can also train with amateur and professional boxing and kickboxing coaches. Students can focus their training with excellent instruction on fitness and technique utilising Townsville Fighting Fit facilities
Sphere Martial Arts MMA classes teach how to combine the individual skills learning in the various striking and grappling classes. From striking, to the clinch, take down and the ground (grappling) game. Modern Mixed martial arts (MMA) is not simply a combination of ground and standing striking arts however and training with Sphere MMA classes will teach you how to seamlessly blend these skills to include:
- Striking position and technique while standing and on the ground
- How to defend from strikes while grappling
- How to switch from striking to grappling attacks both standing and on the ground
- How to take someone down from strikes
- How to escape and get back to your feet
